In the Fall of 2021, CABOT CORPORATION gifted us a grant to train one service dog. We found a male golden retriever named Eddie, who started service dog training. Beginning of 2023 Eddy started working as a guide dog with the visually impaired Andris Oshans. This is the 2nd guide dog for Andris, who recently had to give up his beloved Faye.

Andris says: “I know that it has been noticed that another service dog has started working in Latvia. Yes, it’s been 5 months since a new assistance dog started working diligently and responsibly. Eddy is a 2-year-old golden retriever who has become my best friend and helper. In a very short time we have gained each other’s trust and are therefore living an active life. We have learned a lot of routes and freely move through out the country. We can be found in Carnikava, Cesis and even on the streets of Riga. I would like to point out that our routes often take us through the centre of Riga, which is very inaccessible due to renovations. This only proves that we work well together and can overcome even the obstacles in the excavated centre of Riga.

I am very happy to have and work with such a good helper beginning of this summer, because summer is the best time to participate in events and activities.
